I left my car in the small car park at the end of the single track minor road at Badrallach. It was still early and only a couple of cars were there. I followed the path along the coast to the west and after just over a mile I came to a small river descending from the gully above. The weather was thick cloud and light rain and there wasn’t much to see.

Mist and rain on the Beinn summit
The walkhighlands website recommends the walk up Beinn Ghobhlach in done clockwise so the summit descent will be down the gully. It didn’t make sense to me so I decided to do it anti-clockwids. I headed up the gully and just see a faint path. I climbed up to the twin lochs where a strip of land separates them and gives access to the south slope of the Beinn.
View from Scoraig
I set off up the steep side but was soon in cloud and couldn’t see anything. I continued to the summit ridge then along to the summit cairn at 635m. I could tell that in clear weeatehr this would be a spectacular climb with fantastic views of the peninsula. I continued round the ridge of the corrie and descended down to Coire Dearg where the ground was very wet.

This would have been the ascent route if I’d followed the guide. The final descent to the coast path was very steep in horrible wet heather. At the coast path I continued NW to reach the remote settlement of Scoraig.
Scoraig jetty

I think this is a school annex
There is no road access so the locals have to use the jetty for a none official ferry. I had a look at the old lighthouse that had been moved to a spot by the track when it became redundant. Inside was a small display area.
Post collection
I continued to the jetty and only saw a few locals on the way. At the jetty were a couple of women and a land rover. Nobody was particularly talkative. The return route was back along the coast path. The cloud was still low and I couldn’t see anything on the way back. It was a long day and a tough 22km.
Inside the old lighthouse is a display area
