Morning view of the A9. |

Overnight it rained but by morning I had a clear sky. After a
quick breakfast I set off at 6am in the dark under a starry sky.
After crossing the railway level crossing I needed my headtorch
to follow the rough track up the mountain. I was heading for
Creagan Mor and the track took me steadily up to the west side
of the mountain. At the top of the track split and I took the
right route which took me along the SE side of Creagan Mor
(Great Heart). |

I left it to head across the heather to the flat summit area of
the mountain. I found a small cairn with excellent views then
turned back but not following my ascent route. There was a
narrow deer track heading towards my next objective of
Geal-charn (White Peak). I came to a small tarn and stopped to
take some photos but found my Panasonic G5 had stopped working,
displaying just a blank screen in the viewfinder. After crossing
some wet ground I started the steady pathless climb south to
Geal-charn. I reached the west cairn but couldn’t determine
which of the 2 was the highest. |

I walked to the east cairn and had gps readings of 919m
(3,015ft) for each cairn. As I started the descent several
people were walking up to the cairn. |
It was a lovely walk in the clear weather as I descended to a
lower cairn a short way off the path. The last time I visited it
was cloudy weather so it was nice to see it in clear weather.
The next part of the descent was steep and as the gradient eased
it got wetter underfoot. Once on the track it descends steeply
down to the main track by Allt Coire Fhar. There were now a lot
of people heading up in the sunshine. I was soon back at my car.
