Sometime during the night the rain stopped and turned to hail. The wind continued and got worse. By morning the sky had cleared and I had blue sky but the wind continued. This was my last day and being Good Friday the buses had a Sunday / Bank Holiday timetable and a much later first bus than normal. On Monday the Stagecoach website gave the first bus as 11:20am with a note that times would change at Easter.

Fortunately I’d set off a bit earlier that needed and arrived at the Coniston bus stop just after 11am to see the 505 arrive. I thought it was very early but on enquiring was told it was the 11:05am. He made no mention that the new timetable had only just been introduced. The single fare to Windermere was £7.95 which I thought excessive. However, I sat back and enjoyed the ride. We reached the rail station just before 12 and I spent most on the wait for the 12:20 train on a seat on the platform, enjoying a little cold sunshine.
