An early start as I need to be at Norwich Railway Station in time to
catch the 06:51 train to Manchester Piccadilly. There had been a
little rain overnight but it had stopped before I packed the tent
away. The ride was quiet and easy and I was at the station for
06:00. The train left on time but was surprisingly full and
continued to fill as we trundled through the countryside. We arrived
in Manchester before noon and I was concerned about my next train to
Chorley as Northern Rail time tables had changed and some were in
chaos. It turned out the Chorley train were running OK and I didn’t
have long to wait.
