It was a calm night and I packed up quicker than usual to be away early enough to catch the bus. I was on my way at 6:40am and wandered down the excellent path towards Stockley Bridge. It was still very dark but my Petzl Tikka XP head torch did a great job of lighting the way. By the time I reached Seathwaite there was just enough light to walk without it, but then I was on the road. I didn’t know what time the first bus was as this was not my original planned way home. I guessed about 8am so wanted to get there in good time. I reached the bus stop in Seatoller at 7:39am and just as I looked round the bus was approaching in the distance. The timetable on the bus stop showed 7:40am for the first bus. It’s a good job I arrived in time for it as the next bus was 09:53am. A wait of over 2 hours. I was in Keswick before 8am and then wandered around to wait for the first 555 bus to Windermere Railway Station which left at 9:30.

Early morning approach to Seatoller.
