I had a lecture to give in the early afternoon so had a delayed
start for by bike ride. I managed to get home; change and cycle back
to Chorley Railway Station arriving in good time for the 15:38 train
to Buxton. It was on time and I loaded my bike into the carriage at
the back which had the cycle storage bay. I sat down to enjoy the
ride and after a few stops another cyclist got then later another.
South of Stockport, I think it was Disley, there was an announcement
to say anyone on the rear part of the train would have to move to
the front part as there were platform works at one of the coming
stations. This meant I had to take my bike off the train to try and
find a place for it further along. Why this was necessary I have no
idea. We arrived at Buxton on time, around 17:20. The warm sunny day
was now getting dark and quite cold. I rode out of Buxton and along
the A6 towards Taddington. I’d planned to camp behind a wall by a
lane off the main road. The site turned out to be ideal except that
the fields upwind had just had the muck spreader on them. |
