During day cycled through the Buckshaw area and had a quick look at the Buckshaw Parkway Railway Station. An internet search for its location shows it in the wrong place. Even local signposts are few and far between.

Over 100 people filled the Chorley Unitarian Chapel on Park Street to capacity on Thursday evening 29 Nov 2012. It was the venue of Lizzie Jones’s character presentation to Chorley Historical and Archaeological Society members and friends.

Lizzie Jones, firstly, set the record straight by explaining she was not, contrary to rumours, retiring and this was not going to be her final talk. She added that for 20 years she has done a different character talk each year and does not envisage doing any more characters. She does, however, intend to carry on giving talks in the future so this will not be her last.

I'd been shopping in Leyland and decided to cycle home through Cuerden Valley Park. These images are of Cuerden Hall. The present building dates from 1717 and was originally the home of the Parker then the Townley Parker family. It is now a Sue Ryder Care Home.

I was out for a late afternoon cycle ride from Belmont to Rivington when I saw this wonderful view.

Earlier this week I was contacted about taking some photos along the new Guild Wheel Cycle route round Preston for a possible calendar. This morning I set off on my touring bike and cameras to have a look and see if there were any photo opportunities. I joined the route at Walton-le-Dale Bridge and set off in an clockwise direction. It was nice cycling along the avenue of trees through Frenchwood then Avenham Park and on to the docks.

Through Frenchwood

Then the ride became rather dull and by the time I got to Broughton I’d lost interest completely and only wanted to reach Walton-le-Dale again so I could ride home. The track through Red Scar Wood was much worse than when I rode it last July. It was now very wet and deep mud in places. Through Fishwick Bottoms I was riding through farm slurry and my bike was now caked in mud. I doubt I’ll be riding it again and certainly didn’t see any views that I would put on a calendar.
