This photo of the
gate to the Whittle and Clayton-le-Woods War memorial was taken
this morning under the street lights. There is a cross carved in
the wood next to the spring catch. It was carved by Joe Breen. |

This morning I
was walking home from Preston along one of the old railway lines
that has now been converted to a cycle track. Across a field in
Lower Penwortham I saw a wonderful mural painted on an old brick
building. The walker was by the River Ribble. |

Had an
enjoyable drive to the Angel of the North art structure at
Gateshead.
The
Angel of the North was commissioned by Gateshead Council and
created by Sir Anthony Gormley and erected on site in 1998.
|
 |
It is 20m
(65ft) high and weighs 208 tonnes. A fact that not many people
are aware of that it is constructed on an old colliery site and
the foundation piles go down as far into the ground as the
structure is high. |

Spent the morning
experimenting with digitising some old 35mm b&w negatives using
my copying device fitted to the front of my Lumix G1. The
results were quite good. The photo above was taken in Scapa Flow
on the Koln, one of the German Fleet that was scuttled in 1919 |
