Withnell Fold |
|
Cycled to Withnell Fold to see the recently re-made stocks. The
timber was rotten and has now been re-made by Terry West and a
couple of other workers. Terry used to be a joiner at the
adjacent Paper Mill until it closed in 1967. The stocks were the
original Withnell Stocks and sited by the main Blackburn Road
and moved to Withnell Fold in 1957. |

I was in Wheelton to have my car
serviced when A Raleigh classic bike from around 1949. It has
Reynolds steel tubes, 3 speed Sturmey Archer hub gears & a front
hub dynamo. A friend in Wheelton showed it to me this morning.
It is very heavy & we both agreed it's not a bike we'd want to
ride too far.

While my car was being
serviced I walked to the bus stop at Finington. On the way Isaw
