Midday went for walk via M61 underpass and River Lostock to
Denham Springs Farm to buy some milk. Then up Birchin Lane and
Hill Top Lane. |

Pedestrian and River culvert. |
As I needed milk I called at Denham Springs Farm where they
a well stocked fridge in the yard and an honesty box for
payment. |

Still in restrictions due to Coronovirus. Walked to
Clayton Brook for lunchtime 13:10 by motorway to meet Steve for
walk. He’s been working from home. |

New house on site of old Brindle, Pippin Street Reservoir. |
|
Walked under motorway underpass (all lights damaged and not
working) crossed field to site of White Bridge on old canal then
past Brindle Waterworks House and photographed new house (empty)
on site of old demolished Pippin Street reservoir. Along Pippin
Street to Chesham Farm and across fields to remains of Summit
Bridge where we stopped in the sunshine to eat the butties I’m
made for us. Then walked back to starting point where Steve left
to go home and I walked back home. |

Morning cycled to Pleasington Crematorium on this Mother’s
Day to plot H1 where Mum’s ashes are. It was a nice sunny day
and I returned via Branch Road & Brindle. |

It was a sad sight to see the Roebuck on Waterhouse Green,
Whittle-le-Woods closed and the lights out. I’ve included a
photo in happier times on a rainy evening last December 2019.
Let’s hope it’s not too long before the doors open and the
lights come on again. |

Daffodils on a lovely spring morning by Preston Rd., A6 at the
bottom of Cow Well Ln. Whittle-le-Woods. |
 |
After a lovely clear sky last night I was hoping it would stay
clear until this morning. There was a bit of low cloud as I
watched the sunrise from Denham Lane, Brindle. On the
horizon to the right you can just see Darwen Tower (Jubilee
Tower) 8.7km (5.4miles) away. It was opened in Sep 1898 and
built to commemorate Queen Victoria's Diamond Jubilee (60years).
The actual Queen Victoria Jubilee was on 22 June 1897. She came
to the throne when she was only 18 years old on 20th June 1837.
Her coronation was a year later on 28 June 1838. |

Drove to Scout Road for 10am to meet Andy Hall. Then walked
to entrance to tunnel near Whimberry Hill to crawl to end and do
survey on way out. |

This morning called at the Opticians for my annual eyesight
check. Also had the amazing 3D OCT (Optical Coherence
Tomography) scan. It’s the third I’ve had and they are able to
check how the eye retina is progressing. New technology at its
best – I love it. |
